Lutheran College Students Stranded in Machu Picchu
CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Two professors and 21 students from Gustavus
Adolphus College are stranded in Machu Picchu, Peru. Heavy rains and
flooding produced mudslides in the area, blocking roads and limiting other
means of transportation. The group is among an estimated 2,500 tourists
and others waiting to be evacuated. Gustavus Adolphus, St. Peter, Minn.,
is one of 27 colleges and universities of the Evangelical Lutheran Church
in America (ELCA).
