The reality is that every 6 seconds a child dies from hunger related illness and every 3 seconds a child dies because of poverty.
Those are pretty alarming statistics.
But our youth can make a difference.
On March 26th and 27th Hope Lutheran Church in St. Charles is hosting a 30 Hour Famine. This weekend event takes youth and helps them to experience really what poverty and hunger are like. This event is meant to change your perception and challenge your knowledge. There is a fundraising challenge of $60 per person to be raised before the event. All the money raised will be donated to Kids Against Hunger (www.kidsagainsthunger.org) and be used to support Haiti relief.
The cost for this event is $15 per person which will be used in the weekend's activities. Please let me know by March 15th whether or not you would like to participate in this event.
Please encourage your youth to make a difference in their own lives, their community and the world.
