The South Side Cluster (the group of ELCA churches in the south part of St. Louis) have decided to organize a missions trip for next summer (2011). This is a great opportunity to get to know other ELCA adults/students in St. Louis. If anyone is interested please read the email below from Zac Sturm of Trinity Lutheran Church and let me know if this is something you are interested in. I need to have your name and a $50 deposit by Sunday September 19th.
Thanks
Halle Warmbier

Halle - here is the Mission Trip info. How do you think we could communicate and garner interest? PL
Greetings Friends,
We are officially registered to attend the Group Workcamp in Jackson, MI during the week of June 26th-July 2nd, 2011. I reserved 25 spots. Tentatively, we will leave on Saturday morning, June 25th. We will spend the afternoon swimming in Lake Michigan and playing in sand at Warren Dunes State Park. We will arrive in Jackson that evening and spend the night at Immanuel Lutheran Church (where I was an intern pastor). We will worship at Immanuel the next day (I may even preach) and then begin the camp. We will leave Jackson on Saturday morning, July 2nd, and arrive back in St. Louis late that afternoon.
The minimum age for campers is 14 years old/or beginning 9th grade in the fall of 2011. The total cost to attend camp is $424 per person. This fee is paid in three installments: $50 registration fee in September; second payment of $187 in March; and a final payment of $187 in May. This total DOES NOT include incidental charges such as travel expenses, money for wheels while traveling, and spending money. I imagine we can focus on those logistics as we get closer to the summer.
What is needed THIS MONTH is a tabulation of how many people (youth plus adults) are coming from your church and also the registration fee of $50 per person. If no one objects, I am willing to handle the financial arrangements from Trinity. Please let me know your number and turn into me a registration check ($50 x people from church) by WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMEBR 22ND. Checks should be made out to "Trinity Lutheran Church Youth Group Account." Our mailing address is 820 Lockett Road, Kirkwood, MO, 63122.
I know the notice is short, but please try to get back to me by the 22nd. Youth may be added after September 30th, but our chances of having enough space decrease. The youth and adults who went last year from Trinity, Christ, and St. Thomas/HS had a wonderful experience. Please encourage your youth to consider joining us.
And don't forget-- renuion from Tennessee-- Saturday, September 11th @ 6:00 pm at Christ!
Peace,
Zac
