Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) will be featured on News Channel 3, WSIL-TV in Southern Illinois on Thursday, 2/24/11, on the 10PM News in the last of a February News Feature Series on "How to Be a Hero". This interview will uplift the Dale & Ashley Whittington family (an LSSI Foster / Adoptive Family) in West Frankfort. Their 3 children, who are adopted LSSI-involved children, are also interviewed. This is a wonderful and dedicated couple who have made a tremendous difference in children's lives since they became an LSSI licensed foster family home in 2008.
The interviews with the parents and children are heart-warming and inspirational. Their 3 adopted daughters are biological siblings and are ages 13, 12 and 5, and their stories show the value of a foster family and adoptive family.
