During the Sociables planning meeting in February, it was decided that there should be at least one month devoted to a service project. On Saturday, April 16th the Sociables will meet in Fenton to help serve those who deserve it most. Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization devoted to helping our armed service members and their families living in Missouri and Southern Illinois. The organization helps in many ways with food, child related or baby needs, financial assistance, care packages, making holidays more enjoyable, and providing other basic needs. We will spend that day packing new soldier necessity kits for our new service members facing boot camp or deployed soldiers coming home for re-assignment to Fort Leonard Wood. The kits include blankets, toiletries, and other necessity items that are designed to ease the soldier back into barracks life.
We will meet at Operation Homefront to begin packing the kits at 9:30AM and continue for as long as we can (possibly one or two pm?). Following the activity we can meet together for lunch in Fenton. Details on the restaurant will follow. For those who want to meet at St. Marks we will leave by 8:45AM to drive to Fenton. Or we can meet you at Operation Homefront if you wish to drive directly to the site. The address is:
1306 West Lark Industrial Drive
Fenton, MO 63026-4323
