Normandale Lutheran Church Youth Choir Concert


The Normandale Youth Choir from Normandale Lutheran Church, Edina, Minnesota will be at Peace Lutheran Church, 1209 Royal Heights Road, Belleville, IL at 7:30pm on Friday June 24. The Choir is comprised of 40 students, grades 7-12. The singers give of their time and talents providing musical leadership for Sunday morning worship at Normandale. This year's tour, titled "Living Waters", will include a wide variety of sacred choral music. The choir will sing for churches in New Orleans, Niceville Fl, Madison AL, Franklin TN, Paducah KY, Belleville IL and Platteville WI.

Normandale Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and was founded in 1950. It has 2500 baptized members, an average attendance of 900 and about 250 choir members who sing in 5 choirs under 2 directors. Two organists, a bell choir, a brass quintet and enough instrumentalists for periodic wind, string and orchestral ensembles further enhance the music of the congregation.

The main purpose of choirs at Normandale Lutheran Church is to lead the musical worship life of the congregation. The Youth Choir serves this capacity Sunday mornings at the 8:30 service. The continued commitment to be at church Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. is a worthy gift of time, talent and is a wonderful example of Christian stewardship.

David Clarke is Director of Music at Normandale Lutheran Church. He has been serving in that position since 1984. In addition to directing the Youth Choir, David also directs the 80 singers in the Normandale Choir and all instrumental ensembles. He has degrees from Augsburg College and the University of Minnesota. Accompanist Lorna Wolthoff is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College. She is assistant organist and choir accompanist at Normandale. She also works at Schmitt Music and is the Printed Music Buyer for their mid-west music stores.

The Music Ministry at Normandale strives to be faithful in offering our best gifts, leading the congregation in worship and praise to our triune God.
