Jonah is one of the shortest books in the Bible, but it might be much more important than you realized. The familiar part about Jonah being swallowed by a whale (a fish, actually) that most of us learned in Sunday School is far from the most important aspect of this book. It speaks powerfully about who God is and about the role of God's people. Jesus mentions it at an important moment in his ministry.
