Fwd: Hunger is on the rise. Your help is vital.

November 30, 2010

Dear partners in ministry,

In this season when we celebrate God's great loving care, people need our help now more than ever before: people who are hungry and struggling to lift themselves out of poverty in the United States and around the world.

You can help. Your support for ELCA World Hunger is urgently needed. Consider the following --

  • A new federal report tells us that there are more hungry Americans now than in the past 15 years.
  • Your gifts to ELCA World Hunger support work around the United States, including hundreds of soup kitchens, food pantries and homeless shelters. We are also working in many of the poorest nations of the world.
  • In response to the increased need, generous friends of ELCA World Hunger have joined forces to create a pool of matching funds to double your gift -- dollar for dollar. Between now and December 31, all gifts from individuals will be automatically matched, up to $250,000. Please take advantage of this tremendous opportunity today. Donate now.

Thank you for your generosity in this time of great need. Please encourage everyone you know to donate to ELCA World Hunger now.  Pray that we do all we can to make sure no one goes hungry this Christmas or ever.

With gratitude,

The Rev. Daniel Rift
Director, ELCA World Hunger and Disaster Appeal

P.S. Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson has just released a video message asking for your support for ELCA World Hunger. Please watch it now and share it with your friends, family and congregation. Thank you!
